QUESTION: Please can you tell us what John 1:18 says in your Bible and what Bible you use ?
I use a lot of different translations. But the one I use most often, the LSB, translated it as “the only-begotten God.” But I don’t know why you think this means “first created” when in John 1:1 it says “the Word” was already there when “the beginning” happened. In other words, the Word didn’t come into existence after the beginning. This is why it says, “in the beginning WAS the Word.” Second, 1:3 shows that the Word is eternal since it brought into being everything that “has come into being.” This means the Word cannot have “come into being” at a point in time, since “time” would be included as one of the “things” that the Word brought into existence. So the “begetting” that took place would have been in eternity past, not at a point in time after the beginning.
