One False Prediction too Many?

How many false predictions would it take before you stopped trusting someone? Five? Ten? Twenty? What if they made one false prediction every single week?

Jehovah’s Witnesses often respond to failed predictions by saying: “We never claimed to be perfect, inspired, or infallible. We make mistakes.” And sure—everyone makes mistakes. But that’s not really the question. The question is: At what point does repeated failure make a source unreliable? The Watchtower itself admitted: “Jehovah’s Witnesses… have suggested dates that turned out to be incorrect.” (g93 3/22 p. 4) Then they argue they weren’t speaking directly in Jehovah’s name. But think about this: If your weather app predicted a hurricane every week and kept being wrong, eventually you wouldn’t say: “Well, nobody’s perfect.” You’d stop trusting the forecast. So here’s the question: How many failed predictions would it take before YOU stopped treating someone as a reliable guide?
