According to the Watchtower the epistles apply only to the heavenly class. Abraham’s righteousness we are told is limited to friendship with God, even though the context of Romans 3-5 makes no difference between Abraham and anyone else who is justified by faith apart from works. According to Romans 5.10 and Colossians 2,21 the “heavenly class” were once enemies of God but are now reconciled ie friends like Abraham, so trying to distinguish between Abraham and the heavenly class won’t work. Abraham’s righteousness did not simply consist of friendship with God but as with all other believers, such friendship was the consequence of being righteous. Also if the epistles apply only to the heavenly class doesn’t that mean the earthly class are still dead in their tresspasses and sins and following the ways of this world and the ruler of the kingdom of the air…Ephesians 2 ? Where in the Bible does it tell us how to distinguish between what applies to which class? It comes down to what is our ultimate authority,
the Bible or the Watchtower.
You say in your bio to contact you for clarification. So here is my question:
You accept the Trinity teachng. Well up until the time of Christ Jews did not (and still do not) believe in the Trinity, OK, so now we get to the time of Jesus and the new Christian congregation, and now Jews according to your beliefs, are having to accept the Trinity, and as I understand it the Trinity is that There is God the father, God the SOn and God the holy spirit, and that all three are “co-equal, co-eternal and co-omniscient .
Right, so can you show me ONE verse from the Bible that clearly tells us that the holy spirit is equal to God ? Or one verse that clearly says that the holy spirit is God ? And I am not talking about Matt 28 where all 3 are mentioned in the same verse or about lying to the holy spirit, but please can you show us all where it CLEARLY tells us that the holy spirit is equal to God and is God ?
Will await your reply. Thanks
You’re going to have to stop doing this. I’ve asked you several times to stop posting the same comment in multiple places. It makes it very difficult to keep up with what’s been responded to and what isn’t. If you do this again,
I’m going to completely block you. I don’t want to have to do that, so please respect what I’m asking of you. You are trolling and I’m not going to tolerate that. If you have an argument to make, make it in ONE COMMENT IN ONE PLACE. I think what I’m asking of you is completely fair and I hold everyone to that same standard.
Then answer the question and tell me where in the Bible it tells us that the holy spirit is God and is equal to God ? All you need to do is to answer the question ?
In the Hebrew Scriptures, the Spirit was so closely connected with Yahweh that no Jew imagined this Spirit was something other than Jehovah’s presence.
“The Spirit of Yahweh will rest on Him” (Isaiah 11:2)
“Who has encompassed the Spirit of Yahweh, or as His counselor has informed Him” (Isaiah 40:13)?
The Spirit was simply the manifestation or extension of God’s presence.
If this is the case, how would we decide if this Spirit is personal or impersonal? If the Spirit does things only a person would do, then the Holy Spirit is a person. While examples can be provided from the Hebrew Scriptures, the Christian Scriptures have the strongest support. The Spirit speaks (Acts 13:2, Gal. 4:6), testifies (John 15:26), hears and guides (John 16:13-14), prays (Rom. 8:26-27), has knowledge of God and man (1 Cor. 2:10-11), loves (Rom. 15:30), distributes spiritual gifts and has a will (1 Cor. 12:11), can be sinned against (Mark 3:29-30), and can be insulted (Heb. 10:29).
What about the divinity or deity of the Spirit (or lack thereof)? Here we see some of the most unique attributes of God being said of the Spirit.
“You also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit” (Eph. 2:22).
“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence” (Psalm 139:7)?
“The depths of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.” (1 Cor. 2:11).
“The eternal Spirit” (Heb. 9:14).
